Introduce us to your band!
LIFECYCLE is a hard-hitting alternative metal band based out of Jackson, NJ. LIFECYCLE features Asim Rizvi (4Karma), John Soden (Legion), Joe Viggiano (formerly Ataraxia), Kevin Hightower (formerly Noosphere), and Scott Pustilnick (formerly MCA recording artist Familiar 48).
How did you guys start out?
Fate.. .Scott (Bass) found a good singer. The singer found two great guitar players (Joe and Kevin). The singer found a great drummer (John) then…. the band fired the singer – haha! Best thing that ever happened to us because after a very short search, we found Asim our lead singer – an amazing talent!
Describe your band’s sound
This is tough. We would rather you listen to our brand new self titled debut single called Lifecycle – yes the band name is the same! But, if we had to describe our sound, I would say we have heavy guitar riffs with melodic singing.
What influences your craft?
Our crazy funny lives… Asim is the author of our lyrics and they cover all aspects of life. Other bands also influence our music both good and bad. We all try to stay authentic to the song being crafted. If it’s right for the song it’s right for the band – no egos allowed.
What makes your project different?
Expanding on the lack of egos, we all try to write songs for the song. If the track needs a melodic guitar in a certain part, that’s what it gets. The song is the boss! No ego allowed to feed into the process. This makes the songs more accessible to everyone and doesn’t limit the band – we want to entertain. In addition to the music, the band has a YouTube Series called “A Day in the LifeCycle”. The episodic YouTube series takes a comedic look at the band’s ridiculous lives and anything that may happen along the way.
When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?
The debut self titled single LifeCycle just dropped everywhere. Look at any digital store and you will find it. For now, that’s a great place to start.
What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?
Finding the right places to play. This is more difficult than people realize. There are many reasons why bands fail and one of the big reasons is opportunities to play decent venues. They all can’t be home runs but it is more difficult to get in front of people than people realize.
What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
Writing great songs. Many of us have been playing music and writing songs for years. It has been a huge highlight of ours to play live and release music that we are proud of. The recording is top notch, the live shows back it up. We are putting 100% into it all and the band is very proud of our material.
How bright is the future of your band – what are the plans?
LifeCycle is releasing new content every other month on all digital stores (Spotify, Apple Music etc). In addition the band releases new episodes of “A Day in the Lifecycle” every other week. With all this new content coming, it keeps the band busy and allows our fans to get access to new material… constantly.
When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?
We all want the songs to be remembered and have a life of their own. It’s all about the music and the songs. If the songs are good, they will stand the test of time. We are VERY confident that the songs will hold up. No matter what the genre, a good song is a good song.
