Introduce us to your project!

I am Vanilla Sugar from Los Angeles, CA.

How did you start out?

I originally started writing music on a midi keyboard and iMac in Houston, TX.

Describe your project’s sound

The sound is a mix of Electronic, Alternative, creepy Pop, and a hint of Metal.

What influences your craft?

Life experiences help create the lyrics. I also write about things I would like to do, but couldn’t in real life…like wear people’s skin!

What makes your project different?

The music is unique, it’s definitely worth listening to. There is something special about the whole creating process – it comes alive when you listen to the finished product.

When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?

I would suggest showing a new listener “ThisDarkPlace”. It is my new single, and definitely my favourite song from the album.

What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?

I went through a lot of changes due to roadblocks with the live show, tour etc, over the past couple years. I really became more comfortable with myself on stage through it and feel like Vanilla Sugar is now at its best in comparison to anything before.

What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?

My favourite moment was performing at Warped Tour in Anchorage, Alaska. It was so great being able to connect with fans. It was amazing seeing 1000 people soaking in the music.

How bright is the future of your project – what are the plans?

Grab some sunglasses! I am staying busy. Currently heading to Houston, TX to shoot a music video for my new single, releasing a new album this year and touring the US this October!

When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?

I would like for fans to be able to look back and feel like they really connected with me. I want to be there for people just like music has been there for me.
