- Introduce us to your band!
Troy (Singer): We are Lovesick Radio, a rock band based out of Las Vegas, Nevada and Columbus, Ohio which kind of gives us our personality. We get the blue-collar work ethic from the Midwest, but also bring some fun and swagger to the music which you can contribute to Vegas.
- How did you guys start out?
David (Guitarist): Honestly, Troy & I can’t remember how we 1st met each other. It seems we just kinda knew of each other in our different bands & playing the same shows here & there. But I had this music I was going to track & I thought of his voice on it. I called him up & he was game. We just kind of kept writing & recording after that. The next thing you know we are playing shows & have been around the world a few times.
- Describe your band’s sound.
Troy: We are honestly just a straight-ahead rock band…no gimmicks. The sound, like most “rock and roll”, is just a melting pot of all our influences which vary from classic rock to blues and soul and for us add a splash of punk rock. The good news is I feel we have a “thing” that sounds familiar but not a carbon copy of any particular “thing”, which is exactly where we want to be.
- What influences your craft?
David: Life, love, hate, hard times, good times, the human condition. Being a songwriter, you are always watching & listening whether you realize it or not. You never know what’s going to spark an idea.
- What makes your band different? Why should people listen to you?
Troy: I think that what makes us different is the fact that we are unapologetic about what we are. We definitely don’t try too hard to be or claim to be a “new sound”. We are not that band that has obvious influences but completely denies they are there. We embrace our influences, interpret them, mix them up and deliver what we like…no apologies or dodging. We are oddly familiar and comfortable saying it.
- When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?
David: That’s a hard question to answer cuz we have a lot of different sides. But “You Should Know” is a cool one. Has a cool hook, dirty slide guitar, great groove & killer bassline.
- What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?
Troy: Honestly, the biggest struggle is always navigating the high highs and the low lows…trying to live in the middle and not get too consumed by the bad days but staying grounded when amazing things come our way. Always seeking balance in music and life…I’m not sure that struggle will ever go away.
- What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
David: There’s been a lot really. Playing a new country is always one for me. When I was a little kid this is all I wanted to do. When you are travelling the planet playing music it’s an incredible high!
- How bright is the future of your band – what are the plans?
Troy: The future is as bright as we want. As I said we have our blue-collar background so we know what hard work is and know that it pays off…we feel if we put in the work we can go as far or be as bright as we want…we feel it’s all in our hands. I have a tattoo that says “time is all the luck you need”.
- When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?
David: Hands down the answer is Great songs & Great live performance! That’s what really matters in the end! The songs live on forever & the memories that people make at your shows are what’s going to bring them back!
