1. Introduce us to your band!

V.VAYA: Hi WaveByte. Well VAYA is simply a powerful musical project where it is clearly expressed that music is energy: no filter only strong energy from us to people

Phil: It’s rock, a hard-rock band, very punchy and dynamic based on the NorthAmerican Indians.

2.  How did you guys startout?

Phil: Victoria and Raph started first, then I joined them with other people at this time.

3. Describe your band’s sound.

Raphael: Powerful tribal Amerindian Rock

Phil: Very powerful, with a lot of effects, gain, distortion, delay, pads and now, we’re integrating more and more keyboards with many new and different sounds.

V.VAYA: One of my favourite questions: Well it’s the blow of Nature; the wind, the fire, the vibrations of Earth, the deep lines of the water. Every little part of it, VAYA translate it as better as we can through drums vocals and music and more J

4. What influences your craft?

Phil: Many bands and many musicians, especially guitar players, I have many guitar heroes in many different styles: Rock, blues, hard-rock, heavy metal, jazz, funk, fusion etc.

Raphael: My influence is mostly rock music: Jack White (The Dead Weather), RHCP, The Who, Twenty One Pilots.

V.VAYA: Universe’s Laws.

5. What makes your band different? Why should people listen to you?

Phil: I don’t know, maybe the songs, the sound, the energy and the instruments we add more.

Why should people listen to us?

To find out something they’ve never heard before, something new, very original and very different from other bands!

Raphael: The energy we give.

6. When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?

Phil: Vaya, coz it’s the song that represents us the most! Our quintessential track? VAYA!

Raphael: The song VAYA is great to discover us. ELEPHANTUS live is my quintessential track, I love the arrangement we have worked. It’s powerful!

V. VAYA: Yes. VAYA. “Come in my Kingdom the groove of Rainbows, you…” 😉 and landing on the shoulders of ELEPHANTUS; you will have a great journey.

7. What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?

Phil: Maybe 10 years ago, when I played with another band at The Music Festival, the band who played just before us, they played kind of the same music as we play! They were Greeks and they were really good, we were so impressed the way and the level they played! We were like: “Hey come on guys, we gotta be ready and on top!”.We were very anxious to play after them and yes, I think they gave us a good lesson, they pushed us to break our limits and at the end of the day, we made a good performance thanks to them and we were all very happy the way we played and yes, we had a very good sound and everything was fine! It’s a great memory so far!

V.VAYA: Each day, keeping going and staying focus is a big “struggle” 😉

V.VAYA: Each day, keeping going and staying focus is a big “struggle” 😉

8. What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?

Phil: Playing in front of a very enthusiastic audience!

Raphael: The audience. We never had a lazy audience, it’s always crazy! To be on tour is a wonderful experience.

V. VAYA: Playing/Singing, pregnant 😀 A real powerful emotion.

9. How bright is the future of your band – what are the plans?

Philippe: We’re preparing a new tour in Canada and in The States next spring, then another one in Europe, East and South Europe next summer and then, we’ll record a new album.

Raphael: After almost 40 shows in 8countries between Europe and North America, we are planning a three-week tour in North America in April 2019, and a one month Europe Tour between July andAugust 2019, in order to promote the double album. We will also add more samples for the live shows to get more powerful sounds on stage. After all that, we can start the recording of the next album.

V. VAYA: Well after that, I can just add I am actually in process of composing the next album, here, in Toronto.

10. When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?

Philippe: By the way we play on stage, how we interact with the public and when we dedicate CDs to people.

Raphael: People that remember all the energy we can give to them on our music and on stage.

V. VAYA: It’s just a piece of you and I.
