With their surreal, angular, math rock sound, you’re going to be wanting to add post-hardcore band Irk to all your playlists.

Leeds based post-hardcore rock trio Irk have had a fantastic career since their 2015 debut, touring the UK and Europe widely and sharing the stage with the likes of Pissed Jeans, Liturgy, Dope Body, and Blacklisters. They even orchestrated a powerful stage at the 2017 Arctangent Festival and the 2018 Wrong Festival, and they’re not stopping there. Releasing their debut album Recipes from the Bible later this year on the 7th December, the band are ready to make their big entrance to the scene with their masterful and angry mix of drums, bass, and vocals.

In preparation for the album, the band have released another exciting example of their noise rock brand in the form of the new video, created by Technoir Productions, for the single Life Changing Porno, featuring the vocals of Kelly Bishop. The video’s artistic black and white visuals and twisting camera angles create an oppressive, unsettled feeling, and overall the video adds to the power of the piece.

Jack Gordon’s vocals are intense, and he adds a level of ferocity to the music which will be familiar to any longtime fans of the band, and the bass and drums, played by Ed Snell and Matt Deamer respectively, are just as thundering as ever and create a strong foundation for the vocals to stand upon. The end result is a dirty piece of math rock with a surprisingly self-aware message.

Overall, Life Changing Porno is a very good song, and the upcoming album is not one to miss. With its diverse messages, talented instrumentalists, and smashing vocals, Recipes from the Bible is all set to be a smash hit this December. You can pre-order the album now, or await its release on Spotify, ready to add it to all your playlist; they deserve it.
