1. Introduce us to your project!
Hey! I’m Jeff, an electro-rock music producer based out of Los Angeles, California. I’m originally from Paris, France but I moved to the US two years ago. I’m a guitar player but I produce, write and mix music as well.
2. How did you start out?
I’ve been doing music for more than 10 years. I’ve been playing in bands since forever as a guitar player. I’m doing some session gigs and some live shows. This is really cool but at some point, I wanted to have my own project to play my own music. It all came up naturally, I had a lot of pre-written material, but I needed some time to bring everything to life and to find my sound as a solo artist.
3. Describe your project’s sound.
It’s a blend of my favourite genres. Some people call it “electronic rock ‘n’ roll” some others say it’s ‘EDM for Hard Rockers’ *laughs*. Really, it’s all about rockin’ riffs, heavy drum beats, high pitched voice samples and guitar solos.
4. What influences your craft?
I grew up listening to bands such as The Stooges, The Hellacopters, Guns N’ Roses, MC5… When I started playing the guitar it was all about Hendrix, Joe Satriani, SRV… Later on, I gained an interest in electronic music. Acts like The Prodigy or The Glitch Mob are my favourites. So, at the end of the day, there is a little bit of all that in my sound.
5. What makes your project different? Why should people listen to you?
I’m trying to stay as honest and straightforward as possible with my music. I do not really care about what the industry or the labels will think about my songs. I’m just doing it because I need to empty my mind and I want the people to go crazy when they listen to the tracks.
6. When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?
My first single ‘Sleepless’ is a good song to start with, it has all the elements I’m using in general. It gives you a good idea of what it’s all about.
7. What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?
I’ve been struggling to find the right musical direction. I had many different ‘lives’ in my career so far. I’ve been in rock bands, I went to a jazz school where I was playing some Charlie Parker or John Coltrane tunes all day long, I worked with pop/folk singers, I’ve been in a hip-hop band… and I started producing electronic music. Sometimes you gotta work on one thing and stick with it.
8. What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
I had been playing at the Bataclan theatre in Paris a few years back. Sadly, in 2015 this is where the Paris terror attacks took place killing a hundred people. This was one of my best gigs, but I feel sad when I look at the pictures from that night, it’s a weird feeling…
9. How bright is the future of your project – what are the plans?
I’m about to release my first full album. Then I will be touring to promote it, I can’t wait to play all these tunes live! I have also a new music video coming. I work a lot as a freelance guitar player but I’m trying to spend all of my free time working on this project.
10. When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?
I just hope that if someone listens to my music, they’ll enjoy it. Same for the live performances, I want the people to have a great time and enjoy the sound.
