Summertime radio is in full swing and we’re all sitting Ringside.
The British acoustic scene seems to be a hard nut to crack. Ruled by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Niall Horan, our small collection of islands is known for their quaint, indie-folk, acoustic creativity. I think that it is fair to say that to be successful in this scene requires incredible ambition and dedication.
Enter Jack Carleton.
Having been cutting his teeth in this industry for nearly four years now, Carleton’s Soundcloud (linked below) is full of both covers and originals, which all stand out for the vast range of styles, genre, and decadence. However, his newest single – Ringside – officially came out on Spotify 24 hours ago (as of writing this), and I’ve given it more than a couple of spins. Ringside features a smooth, bluesy bassline which is undercut by an encircling drumbeat which adds a bit of flavour to the tune. The steady beat, matched with Carleton’s voice, creates a truly unique vibe.
Carleton’s well on his way to creating distinctive, summer bops, and I feel as though this song is where it all starts. If Carleton is to keep creating the music that he wants to make, I am sure that he will produce even more high calibre music.
